A vehicle 2 comprises a receiver 18 which receives air quality data at the vehicle’s current location. An air inlet 12 automatically controls ingress of air from the exterior of the vehicle 5 to a vehicle cabin 8 depending on the received air quality data. The ingress of air may also depend on the number of people in the vehicle, the average speed, the route taken, or an air quality parameter measured by an internal air sensor 6. Air ingress may be controlled by a valve (24, Fig. 2a) and a variable speed fan. The vehicle may also have an air treatment module such as a filter. The vehicle may have an external air quality sensor 4 with air quality at the vehicle’s location determined using the sensor data and the received air quality data. A method of determining an air quality parameter at a plurality of locations using received air quality from a plurality of vehicles (2, 44, 46, 50, Fig. 5) and from one or more fixed air monitoring stations (42, Fig. 5) is also claimed.
