The assembly 1 includes a clamp 3 having a collar 10 for receiving a tubular rail, the collar having a axially extending split 8 and including at least one finger 9a/b extending outwardly from the collar adjacent the split, the assembly including a bracket 2 for securing to a wall surface 17 having a receiving portion, preferably internal ribs 15a/b, arranged to urge the at least one finger to compress the collar at the split, clamping the rail. If there is a single finger the assembly will include a cover 4 having a means to retain the clamp, preferably projection (34, Fig. 2) which snap fittingly engages an opening 11 in the clamp to prevent rotation when the finger is biased by the ribs. Another embodiment includes two fingers which are urged towards each other by opposing ribs 15a/b to cause the clamping action. Also claimed is a method of use, a kit of parts, and a shower or bath area including the assembly. The assembly allows fitting of rails/pipes through friction clamping, avoiding the need for screws or bolts which may corrode over time.
