A test assembly includes a hydraulic pump 20 having a rotor (25, figure 2) connected via a connection assembly 30 to the output rotor of a prime mover (internal combustion engine) 1, and a mount 60 which is supported on the body of the prime mover. The mount 60 is configured to support the housing 21 of the pump 20 in a predefined position relative to the prime mover 1 with the pump rotor 25 axially collinear with the rotation axis X of the rotor 10. The mount 60 may be mounted on the open end 4 of a flywheel housing 3 of an internal combustion engine while the pump 20 is loaded by a flow resisting valve (102, figure 11) to provide a load to the engine under test.
