Provided in the present invention are a backlight module and a liquid crystal display device using the backlight module. The backlight module comprises: a back panel (2), a light guide plate (4) arranged within the back panel (2), a backlight source (6) arranged within the back panel (2), and an optical film set (8) arranged on the light guide plate (4). The back panel (2) comprises a base panel (22) and several side panels (24) perpendicularly connected to the base panel (22). The base panel (22) is provided at a side facing the light guide plate (4) with an arced surface (222). An arced reflective surface (224) is formed on the arced surface (222). The backlight module and the liquid crystal display device using the backlight module of the present invention are structurally simple. In place of an existing reflective sheet, the arced reflective surface having high reflective properties is provided at the side of the back panel facing the light guide plate. This reduces the thickness of the liquid crystal display device, reduces manufacturing costs, facilitates implementation of thickness reduction, and at the same time, prevents damages to the light guide plate caused by abrasions between the reflective sheet and the light guide plate, thus extending the service life of the light guide plate.
