A knee brace comprising: a hinged-apparatus including a pair of first members and a pair of second members, the first and second members being pivotably connected; a pivot restriction 20 to limit rotation between a pair of the first and second members and being moveable between an engaged position, where the pivot-restriction 20 is engaged with a first or second member, and a released position, where the pivot-restriction 20 moves relative to the first or second member; and a locking device 22 comprising a hinged-apparatus engagement portion 22b and a pivot-restriction engagement portion 22a. The hinged-apparatus-engagement-portion 22b engages and locks with a first or second member, and the pivot-restriction engagement-portion 22a engages with the pivot-restriction 20 to prevent it moving from the engaged to the released position. Preferably, the first and second members include a housing 18 that includes teeth 28 to receive and engage with one or more corresponding engagement portions 30 of the pivot-restriction 20.Locking device 22 may have a body portion comprising a frangible portion 22g located between the two hinged-apparatus engagement portions 22b, the frangible portion 22g possibly including two planar layers, one or each layer including perforations.
