Functionalised graphene and coatings comprising the same

A method of preparing functionalised graphene is disclosed, the method comprising the step of functionalising graphene with a chemical linker when the graphene is in a substantially dry condition. The method may comprise spraying a graphene powder with a chemical linker such as an organosilane, e.g. an unhydrolyzed organosilane. Also disclosed is a functionalised graphene composition comprising 0.1 to 10wt% of a chemical linker and graphene; 0.1 to 5wt% of a wetting agent; 0.1 to 10wt% of a dispersing agent. Further disclosed a functionalised graphene may be used to substitute for metallic pigments in a coating composition.
