The motion of receivers in towed multicomponent streamer seismic data is corrected 1702,1704 in order to obtain pressure and particle motion wavefields with approximately stationary-receiver locations, based on the distance moved along a vessel track by the receivers. Wavefield separation 1704, 1705 is then applied to the wavefields with approximately stationary-receiver locations to compute upgoing pressure or particle velocity wavefields. Also disclosed is a method of obtaining a near-continuous pressure wavefield at approximately stationary receiver locations which involves transforming a near-continuous recorded wavefield to a wavenumber-time domain, computing a distance correction operator based on the distance moved by each receiver and wavenumber sample, and multiplying each amplitude of the wavefield in the wavenumber-time domain by the operator.
