Problem to be solved: to provide a system, method and apparatus for detecting and identifying a sensor fault using residual fault pattern recognition.A method for sensor fault detection and identification in vehicle 110 includes detecting data using sensors (120, 130, 140) provided on the vehicle.The method further includes multiple processing for each data type and generating a single voting value for each type of data.The method also includes generating an estimated value using at least some of the voting values for each type of data.Further, the method includes comparing the estimated value with the voting value to generate a residual.Further, the method comprises analyzing the residual pattern to determine which type of data is erroneous and detecting and identifying faults occurring in at least one sensor in the vehicle.Selection diagram
