The invention relates to disposable anti-fouling coatings for geophysical research equipment. At least exemplary embodiments are methods comprising deploying marine geophysical research equipment. Deployment may include: installing a disposable antifouling coating (300) of plastic material on a portion of the marine geophysical research equipment, the disposable anti-fouling coating masking a majority of an outer surface of the portion marine geophysical research equipment; and place marine geophysical research equipment in a body of water.
