To propose a method for characterizing photovoltaic modules.SOLUTION: The method includes: a step 100 of capturing at least one electroluminescent image of a module; a step 200 of determining mapping of apparent band gap energy of the photovoltaic module from the captured image; and a step of determining mapping of the module for at least one quantity of an open circuit voltage 400, a saturation current 500, and an absolute loss of a photovoltaic efficiency 300 from the mapping of the apparent band gap energy.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
