According to the aspect of the present invention, the water-absorbing material and the color changeable unit can be exchanged easily. Provided is a soil moisture indicator in which a water-absorbing material and a color-changing part can easily be replaced. The present invention is provided with: a body part that is formed so as to be hollow by a material through which water does not pass, and that comprises a water-absorbing opening positioned near one end in the longitudinal direction and a transpiration opening positioned near the other end; a display part that is connected to the other end of the body part and allows an inner hollow portion to be viewed; an top end part that constitutes the end portion of the display part, that can be removed from and connected to the display part at the end portion on the opposite side to the end portion connected to the body, and that serves as a cap for the hollow portion of the display part; a water-absorbing material that fills the inside of the body part and the display part from at least the water-absorbing opening to the display part; and a color-changing part that is positioned so as to cover the water-absorbing material at the location of the display part, and that changes color tone when in a water-absorbed state and a dry state.
