The present invention relates to a retaining assembly (1) able to be fixed to a portable tool (3) to allow the connection of a safety cord (2) to said tool. According to the invention, said assembly comprises: - a first and a second fixing plate (10, 11) capable of being secured to said portable tool by enclosing the body thereof; - an anchoring element (14) adapted to allow the attachment of said cord; - a first and a second flexible securing elements (15, 16) each having an end secured to said anchoring element and an end respectively secured to said first and said second fixing plates.
