A wear monitoring system (80) for measuring incursion depth into an abradable coating (76) includes a layer of abradable coating (76) including a depth, and a measurement circuit (86) including a plurality of conductive leads (88) disposed within the abradable coating (76). The conductive leads (88) are spaced radially apart within a common radial plane corresponding to the depth of the abradable coating (76). A radio frequency identification tag (RFID) (94) is disposed within the abradable coating (76) and connected to the measurement circuit (86). A plurality of resistor elements (90a-e) corresponds with the plurality of conductive leads (88). Each of the plurality of resistor elements (90a-e) in electrical communication with one of the plurality of conductive leads (88) is disposed within the common radial plane of the corresponding one of the plurality of conductive leads (88). An electrical characteristic of the measurement circuit (86) varies responsive to cutting of one or more of the plurality of conductive leads (88) by a passing airfoil (66).
