Contact lens treatment systems and methods for disinfecting contact lenses are described. These systems and methods utilize a coated catalytic disc, which contains a support disc and a manganese oxide present on at least a portion of the support disc. The coated catalytic disc contains 300 µg to 1800 µg of manganese, often in the form of manganese dioxide.
