The present invention concerns a method for controlling the suction power of a wireless upright vacuum cleaner (1) comprising a handle (3), a suction motor (9) or indeed a suction motor (9) and a sweeping motor, and a suction and/or sweeping head (2), an accelerometer (5) for delivering signals relating to a speed and/or an acceleration of a part of the wireless upright vacuum cleaner (1), and a gyroscope (6) for measuring an angular position of the handle in a determined reference frame in space, processing means (7) for processing the signals delivered by the accelerometer (5) and the gyroscope (6), and an electronic control unit (8) for controlling the motor or motors connected to the processing means (7), the method comprising the following steps: a. determining, using the accelerometer (5) and the gyroscope (6), over a sliding acquisition period, values of at least one variable representative of the speed and/or the acceleration, and the angular position of the handle; b. determining a power setpoint of the motor or motors depending on the values obtained in the preceding step. The present invention also relates to a wireless upright vacuum cleaner implementing this method.
