This is a response to an invitation to participate in an 'academic conversation' about the controversial publication: Snyder, I. (2008) 'The Literacy Wars: Why teaching children to read and write is a battleground in Australia'. Crows Nest: Allen and Unwin. Apart from Anita Jetnikoff, other writers and contributors to the 'dialogue' were; Terry Hayes, Natalie Bellis, David Freesmith,& Pat Lees.
