WIILIAM THE CONQUEROR: PERANAN DUKE OF NORMANDY DI KERAJAAN INGGRIS TAHUN 1066-1087

Skripsi ini berjudul William the Conqueror: Peranan Duke of Normandy di Kerajaan Inggris Tahun 1066-1087. Masalah utama yang diangkat dalam skripsi ini adalah “bagaimana peranan William the Conqueror di Kerajaan Inggris tahun 1066-1087?”. Masalah utama tersebut kemudian dibagi menjadi empat pertanyaan penelitian, yaitu: (1) Bagaimana latar belakang kehidupan William the Conqueror yang terlibat dalam pendudukan Inggris pada tahun 1066-1087? (2) Mengapa William the Conqueror menduduki Inggris pada tahun 1066-1087? (3) Bagaimana kebijakan-kebijakan yang dibuat William the Conqueror selama menjabat sebagai raja Inggris tahun 1066-1087? (4) Bagaimana pengaruh kebijakan William the Conqueror dalam kehidupan masyarakat di Inggris?. Keempat pertanyaan tersebut menjadi landasan utama penelitian dan pokok permasalahan dalam penelitian. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode historis dengan melakukan empat langkah penelitian sejarah, yaitu heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penulisan skripsi ini menggunakan pendekatan interdisipliner dengan menggunakan konsep dari ilmu politik, ekonomi, ilmu budaya dan sosiologi. Konsep dari ilmu politik yang digunakan adalah teori kepemimpinan, dan teori kedaulatan raja, kebijakan politik. Konsep yang diambil dari ekonomi seperti pajak, upeti. Adapun konsep yang diambil dari sosiologi antara lain feodalisme, tingkatan masyarakat (stratifikasi). Sedangkan konsep yang diambil dari ilmu budaya seperti bahasa, religi, arsitektur bangunan. Pokok dari konten penelitian ini adalah peranan William the Conqueror yang merupakan seorang keturunan bangsa Viking di Normandia, Perancis ketika menjadi raja Inggris serta pengaruh dari pendudukan bangsa Normandia itu sendiri di Inggris. Meskipun demikian, penulis membahas pula latar belakang kehidupan William the Conqueror dan perjalanan William the Conqueror menjadi raja Inggris. Salah satu kebijakan William yang paling terkenal adalah melakukan survey Inggris untuk mendata kekayaan masyarakat Inggris yang semuanya terhimpun dalam Domesday Book. Kebijakannya ini diberlakukan pada tahun 1085, beberapa saat sebelum William meninggal dunia. Pengaruh kepemimpinan William di Inggris masih bisa disaksikan hingga saat ini. Hal yang paling kentara ada pada aspek sosial budaya. Karena hal ini pula lah yang menyebabkan adanya kedekatan antara Inggris dan Perancis pada saat pemerintahan William the Conqueror. ;--- This paper titled William the Conqueror: The role of the Duke of Normandy in United Kingdom Year 1066-1087. The main issues raised in this paper is "how the role of William the Conqueror in the United Kingdom in 1066-1087?". The main problem is then divided into four research questions, namely: (1) How does the background of the life of William the Conqueror involved in the British occupation in the year 1066 to 1087? (2) Why did William the Conqueror occupied Britain in 1066-1087? (3) How do the policies that made William the Conqueror during his tenure as the king of England in 1066 to 1087? The method used is the historical method with only four steps of historical research, the heuristics, criticism of sources, interpretation, and historiography. The approach used in writing this essay uses an interdisciplinary approach using concepts from political science, economics, cultural science and sociology. The concept of political science that is used is a leadership theory, and the theory of the sovereignty of the king, political policy. The concept is taken from the economy such as taxes, tribute, guild. The concept is taken from sociology, among others feudalism, level of society (stratification). While the concept is taken from the science of culture such as language, religion, architecture of the building. Highlights of the content of this research is the role of William the Conqueror, who is a descendant of the Vikings in Normandy, France when he became king of England as well as the influence of the Normans occupation itself in England. However, the author also discusses the background of the life of William the Conqueror and the journey William the Conqueror became king of England. One of the most famous William policy is conducting a survey to assess the wealth of British English society who all gathered in the Domesday Book.
