Enhancing Trauma System Evaluation: Incorporating the Rehabilitation Component

This study proposed to link two national databases with overlapping patientpopulations from acute care and rehabilitation, as part of a larger effort to design a model trauma registry that would be responsive to the rehabilitation needs of seriously injured patients. The databases used in the study included: (1) the trauma registry used in the Major Trauma Outcome Study (MTOS) and (2) the rehabilitation database maintained by the Uniform Data System (UDS) for Medical Rehabilitation. This final performance report will include: (1) a summary of the progress made toward the achievement of the originally specified aims; (2) the obstacles encountered over the course of the study; and (3) a list of publications resulting from the project, those in progress, and those that will be written.
