This publication summarizes research and experience that show the potentialbenefits and problems related to decreasing tillage and leaving more residues on the soil surface. Experts discuss the equipment, management practices, crop protection chemicals, crop rotations, cover crops, and cropping systems that will enable farmers to control erosion on their lands-so they are in Federal conservation compliance-while simultaneously optimizing their net returns and improving the environment and natural resources.
