Forecasting Minimum Temperatures in the Santa Maria Agricultural District

The National Weather Service Office in Santa Maria has developed a method offorecasting minimum temperatures for each of the 14 key agricultural temperature stations in San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara Counties. The purpose of this project is to develop a better method of accurately forecasting minimum temperatures for each of the key agricultural temperature stations. Growers in the Agricultural District need to know the expected minimum temperatures in order to take precautions for their frost sensitive crops and plan field activities.
