U.S. Alcohol Epidemiologic Data Reference Manual, Volume 3, Fourth Edition. County Alcohol Problem Indicators: 1986-1990.

This document provides the most currently available data on alcohol-related mortality for individual U.S. counties and is the only uniform source of county-level data on alcohol problems for the country. This is the most recent in a series of data reference manuals compiled and published by the Alcohol Epidemiologic Data System (AEDS) of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and is a major revision and update of three earlier editions showing county-level data on alcohol-related mortality (NIAAA, 1981; Colliver, 1985; Caces et al., 1991). As an update, this document includes the most recent mortality data available at the time of preparation. It is considered a major revision because it uses a definition of alcohol-related mortality based on more current scientific knowledge concerning alcohols contribution to death than was available when earlier editions were developed.
