Signal Detection: A Model Based Approach (Signaldetektering: En ModellbaseradMetod)

The purpose of this report is to investigate the effectiveness of a specificmethod for detection of a submarine. The detector used in this method is the MGLR detector (modified generalized likelihood ratio detector). We have made a computer simulation study involving a number of different models, all relevant in a submarine detection application. Among them are the simulated static magnetic field generated by a moving magnetic dipole, and also a signal of a transient nature likely to occur in a hydroacoustic application. Also included are the proposal of two other detectors, which could be preferred in an adaptive application. These are the MAPGLR (maximum a posteriori probability GLR) and the MIXGLR detectors.
