摘要

The workshop summarized in this document was held on May 15-16, 1995 at TuftsUniversity. The workshop brought together faculty, representatives of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and the private sector to present discipline specific curricular materials developed and implemented to augment instruction of undergraduate students in occupational safety and health. Presentations were made in the following substantive areas: Chemical and Process Engineering, Civil and Construction Engineering, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, and the introduction of industrial hygiene, occupational safety, epidemiology, and toxicology into engineering education. The workshop culminated in a discussion of how best to make further progress in the dissemination and adoption of these instructional materials. Conclusions reached by participants that would likely have the greatest benefit included greater involvement with the private sector and the promotion of the curricular materials through appropriate professional engineering societies.
