The Information Collection Rule (ICR) for Public Water Systems requires publicwater systems that meet certain applicability criteria to conduct disinfection byproduct (DBP) precursor removal studies, referred to as treatment studies. These treatment studies are intended to provide cost and performance data on granular activated carbon (GAC) and membrane processes for meeting the DBP regulations. The purpose of the manual is to provide the information necessary to conduct these studies.
