TRADES from Theory to Practice: A Transformational Design Methodology

Achieving correct designs is quickly becoming the bottleneck in the design of211u001ecomplex digital systems. In this memorandum the authors discuss their experience 211u001ewith developing and implementing a novel transformation-based design methodology 211u001efor the design of guaranteed correct synchronous digital systems. The methodology 211u001eis augmented with a transparent, syntax-based translation mechanism for the 211u001esupport of almost full VHDL. Behavior-preserving design transformations are used 211u001eto remove the VHDL event mechanism.
