Arms Control and the Rule of Law: A Framework for Peace and Security in Outer Space Proceedings of the Fifteenth Annual Ottawa NACD Verification Symposium

It is representative of the quality of research which has been conducted over the years in the areas of monitoring, verification, confidence building, and transparency as it relates to Canada's non-proliferation, arms control, and disarmament (NACD) agenda. Since its inception in 1983, the Department of Foreign Affairs' Verification Research Program (VERPROG) has focused on both concept and practice in these areas. Monitoring and verification are recognized as essential ingredients in the successful completion and implementation of NACD treaties and agreements.nIt has shared its research results with allies, friends, and others who have expressed interest in a multilateral approach to the NACD process. These symposia have served as something of a "sounding board" to review the results of research at the end of each fiscal year. It has also constituted a means of exchange with NACD experts from othercountries.
