High Plains States Groundwater Demonstration Program. Wood River Artificial Groundwater Recharge Demonstration Project Summary

The Wood River Project is one of 13 demonstration projects to study the potential for groundwater recharge in the Western United States. The project demonstrated several types of spreading basins (ponds where water seeps into the ground) in southwestern Hall County, Nebraska, west and north of the city of Wood River. Figure 1 shows the boundaries of the local sponsor, Central Platte Natural Resource District (CPNRD), and the Wood River Project location. This report summarizes the project and findings of the Wood River Project. Detailed information can be found in the main report, Wood River Groundwater Recharge Demonstration Project, March 1997.
