Metropolitan MDI Workshop Wisdom: Project Organization and Outreach. March 1999

In autumn of 1996 former Secretary of Transportation Federico Pena announced that211u001eNew York, New Jersey, Connecticut, San Antonio, Phoenix and Seattle were chosen 211u001eto participate in the Metropolitan Model Deployment Initiative (MDI) program. The 211u001eprogram focused on bringing public and private sector partners together in the 211u001eintegrated deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) by integrating 211u001eexisting infrastructure with new traveler information systems. The purpose of 211u001ethis report is to further facilitate the exchange of information and provide 211u001eagencies embarking on ITS initiatives with advice in two areas: project 211u001eorganization and outreach.
