What Can States Do to Foster Reengineering of the Health Care Delivery System. A211 Workshop for Senior State Executive and Legislative Staff. Held in Denver, 211 Colorado on February 16-17, 1999
This workshop was presented by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research211u001e(AHCPR) User Liaison Program in Denver, Colorado, on February 16-17, 1999. It was 211u001edesigned to explore the concept of health care delivery system reengineering and 211u001eidentify ways in which current public policies may impede advances and how such 211u001ebarriers can be reduced. The workshop provided participants with examples of 211u001especific reengineering innovations and discussed demonstrations and other 211u001eincentives States can use to promote delivery system change. Policy implications-211u001eparticularly in areas in insurance regulation, public health, access to services 211u001efor vulnerable populations, and purchasing of services for public employees and 211u001eMedicaid enrollees-were also examined. The following sessions were presented by 211u001eexperts in their various fields: Major Trends and Forecasts for the Future of the 211u001eHealth Care System; Evolving Roles for the States in the Health Field; The Need 211u001eand Potential for Reengineering the Health System; What Can States Do To Foster 211u001ethe Most Promising Delivery System Reengineering Innovations; and What Are the 211u001eStates' Needs for Further Research and Policy and Technical Support/Assistance To 211u001eFoster Delivery System Reengineering.
