This workshop was presented by AHCPR's User Liaison Program and held in Vail,211u001eColorado, on May 18-20 1998. Its purposes were to explain the shift of much of 211u001ethe U.S. population into managed care and the resulting need for better ways to 211u001emeasure the quality of care provided by the health systems, and to give State and 211u001elocal officials the background and knowledge to answer a range of challenging and 211u001etechnically complex questions about measuring quality of care. The following 211u001eworkshops were presented by experts in their various field: Overview of Quality 211u001eMeasurement Issues and Challenges; Licensure, Accreditation, and Systems 211u001eStandards; Quality/Performance Measures; Quality: Considering the Consumer; 211u001eEnsuring the Quality of Care for Medicaid and Special Populations; Integrating 211u001ePublic and Private Sector Purchaser Strategies to Obtain Quality Health Care; 211u001eEfforts to Ensure Quality of Care: the Health Plan Perspective; Report on the 211u001eRecommendations from the President's Advisory Commission on Consumer Protection 211u001eand Quality in Leaders-Developing Integrated Strategies to Ensure High Quality 211u001eCare.
