System for Specifying and Coordinating the Execution of Reliable Distributed211 Applications

This paper describes the design and implementation of a coordination language211u001e(scripting language) and the supporting execution environment for expressing the 211u001erun-time composition of distributed applications and their dependencies. The 211u001esystem supports interoperability as it has been designed and implemented as a set 211u001eof CORBA services. Dynamic control is made possibile because the execution 211u001eenvironment is built using a transactional workflow management system where sets 211u001eof interrelated tasks can be carried out and supervised in a dependable manner. 211u001eThe paper describes how relevant ideas from the fields of workflow management and 211u001esoftware architectures can be combined to provide an advanced application 211u001econstruction and execution environment, using distributed objects and middleware 211u001etechnologies.
