The symposium was 211u001ecosponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; the National 211u001eLibrary of Medicine; and the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research. The goal 211u001eof the symposium was to develop an agenda of innovative ways in which the domain 211u001eof information technology and medical informatics can be used to help fulfill the 211u001emission of the National Heart Attack Alert Program (NHAAP), a program of the 211u001eNational Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. 211u001eThe mission of the NHAAP is to reduce morbidity and mortality from heart attack 211u001ethrough early recognition and treatment.
