Measuring Injury Outcomes: Proceedings of a National Conference. Held in211 Bethesda, Maryland on June 15-16, 1998

On June 15 and 16, 1998, NHTSA sponsored a conference to discuss the current211u001estate of knowledge of injury outcomes, with an emphasis on motor vehicle crash 211u001einjuries. The purposes of the conference were to share the current state of 211u001eknowledge in measuring injury outcomes with the agency's partners in industry, 211u001egovernment and academe, and to provide the agency with information from which an 211u001eagenda for further work could be developed. Presentations were made on health 211u001estatus measures. QALYS an DALYS, societal costs, functional capacity, pediatric 211u001efunctional capacity, behavioral effects, current status of ICD-10 CM, sources of 211u001epayments, data linkage and a summary of the international conference on Measuring 211u001ethe Burden of Injury held in the Netherlands in May, 1998. Three breakout session 211u001eprovided the audience an opportunity to discuss the issues and express their 211u001eviews, covering economic measures, behavioral effects and data.
