Evaluation of the Installation and Initial Condition of Hydraulic Cement Concrete211 Overlays Placed on Three Pavements in Virginia

Hydraulic cement concrete pavement overlays were placed in the summer of 1995 at211u001ethe following locations in Virginia: I-295 near Richmond, I-85 near Petersburg, 211u001eand Rt. 29 near Charlottesville. Overlays were placed on I-295 SBL (near mile 211u001emarker 29) and I-85 SBL (near mile marker 51) in Virginia to prevent spalling 211u001ecaused by a shy cover over the reinforcement and to enhance the structural 211u001eintegrity. Both locations are continuously reinforced concrete pavement. An 211u001eoverlay was also placed on Rt. 29 NBL (1.6km south of Charlottesville) in 211u001eVirginia to correct a rutted asphalt pavement.
