Africa: Financial Sectors. A Guide to the Financial Infrastructure of Sub-SaharanAfrica

This publication, which profiles financial sectors in 28 sub-Saharan Africancountries, was prepared to assist U.S. companies interested in engaging in trade with Africa. The prime criterion for inclusion in this report was that the country has a substantial, functioning financial services infrastructure. The information and analysis provided reflect information current as of July 2001. While reforms have not eliminated many cultural and commercial problems that affect the conduct of business in Africa, opportunities await U.S. companies that are prepared to enter the region's markets for the long term.
