Estimated Takes of Protected Species in the Commercial Directed Shark Bottom Longline Fishery 2003. 2004, and 2005

This report estimates total takes of protected species in the US Atlantic commercial directed shark bottom longline fishery for the years 2003,2004, and 2005. Forthe purposes of this report, takes of protected species refers to protected species that were incidentally captured during fishing operations. Although the shark bottom longline fisher comprises fishers that hold directed and incidental shark permits, only the commercial directed portion was considered in this report.
