Turkey: Politics of Identity and Power

Turkey has become increasingly confident and assertive on the international stage. This report provides an overview of the current domestic political situation in Turkey that, combined with a exceptionally robust economy, has enabled the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) to act in that manner. It does not address specific foreign policy issues, which will be the subject of a separate report.
