1 Studies were carried out on 3 dogs ren¬dered polycythemic by exposure to low oxygen tension (8 percent) for a period of two years.n2 he filtration rate and effective renal plasma flow were decreased, and the effective renal blood flow and filtration fraction were increased, as compared with control observalima an 5 normal dogs with other data recorded in the literature.n3 The concentrating capacity of the experi¬mental dogs as measured by T H2 O, or the vol¬ume of water removed from the isosmotic glo¬merular filtrate in the elaboration of a concen¬trated urine during osmotic diuresis, was sub¬stantially lower in the polycythemic dogs than in our controls and lower than in other dogs re¬ported in the literature.
