A stroboscopic method has been employed to study the pro¬pagation of luminous fronts in fluorescent tubes both on striking and at extinction. The method is essentially that described pre¬viously by Ledrus. Measurements have been carried out on tubes with walls of "conducting class and of normal Glass. There was no difference in the results with the limits of experimental error.nThe dependence of the velocity on the wall temperature was investigated. The velocity was found to increase with increasing wall temperature.
