THE SYNTHESIS OF SPURRITE AND THE REACTION WOLLASTONITE + CALCITE SPURRITE + CARBON DIOXIDE

Spurrite can no longer be considered a very rare mineral as it has been described from at least ten localities and undescribed occurrences are known. Apparently nearly all carefully studied diabase-siliceous-limestone contacts carry spurrite. At many localities hand specimens can be collected that consist almost entirely of spurrite.
