Relative orientation plays a very important role in aerotriangulation, whether it is analogue or analytical in nature. Relative orientation may be defined as the process of determining the position and attitude of one of two or more overlapping photographs with respect to the other photographs. Today, there exist numerous processes for the analytical simultaneous relative orientation of stereopairs, stereotriplets, stereomultiplets, sub-blocks, and complete blocks of photographs. Of these methods, the stereopair which is a natural outgrowth of analogue techniques and the stereotriplet which is mathematically more rigorous are the two methods to be studied and compared to each other in this paper. Results are discussed.
