摘要

Selected patients were plasmapheresed to obtain quantities of monospecific sera. We have now typed over 6000 individuals, mainly in Western Europe. The exact genetic relationship of 4a and 4b to the other HL-A antigens was studied in detail. It could be concluded that the 4a and 4b antigens can not be regarded as a simple sum of the antigens of the Seven series. To improve the EDTA agglutination method we introduced a low-ionic medium in which lymphocytes isolated from heparin blood, as used for the cytotoxicity technique, can be used. Studies of methods to stabelize granulocyte suspension were undertaken. Several attempts were made to achieve this goal, but so far without success. The leucocyte groups of a colony of almost 50 chimpanzees in the Netherlands were studied. It appears that the 4a and 4b antigens are well expressed in the chimpanzee, but that the other series are rather sketchy. The following antigens are in our opinion present on chimpanzee lymphocytes: HL-A 1, HL-A 10, HL-A 11, HL-A 12, HL-A 13, 7c agglutinating, and Ba*. Recent investigations in our laboratory have shown that HL-A substances are also present in human serum and plasma. The biological significance of these antigens are being studied. Typings have been performed for bone marrow transplants in Leyden and also for one performed in Germany.
