Guide to the Selection of Limestone Caverns and Springs in the United States as National Landmarks

An introductory section describes the origin of limestone caverns, cave areas of the United States and cavern features and deposits. An inventory of 97 cavern sites is provided based mostly on geological significance, with some mention of significance due to hydrology, paleontology, archeology, history, biology or scenery. A very brief description of 17 springs is provided. The text is illustrated with 106 figures, many being maps of cave passageways.
