摘要

Laboratory tests indicated that generally nylon-supported rubber membranes have low shrinkage and good dimensional stability. The nylon-supported neoprene and CSPE (chlorosulfonated polyethylene) sheetings had high water absorption,being 5times that of the butyl rubber. Water absorption was found not to be directly related to sheeting thickness. The unsupported CSPE sheetings of early formulations demonstrated poor dimensional stability under both oven and outdoor shrinkage tests. One new unsupported CSPE material showed a marked improvement over earlier formulations in dimensional stability. For all CSPE sheetings tested,physical properties of tensile strength,elongation,tear strength,and ozone resistance were satisfactory. The results of a newly introduced water absorption test for supported rubber linings were sufficiently encouraged to warrant further study to determine precision of the test method. (Author)
