Charges for Care and Sources of Payment for Residents in Nursing Homes, United States, National Nursing Home Survey, August 1973-April 1974

Data are presented on charges for care and sources of payment for nursing home residents in relation to certification, service, ownership, size, geographic region of the nursing home and age, sex, primary reason for admission, length of stay since current admission, primary source of payment, and health status of the resident. Health status was measured by primary diagnosis at last examination, reported chronic conditions, and level of patient care received. Data on charges and sources of payment for 1973-74 are compared with those for 1964 and 1969 to examine changes during the 10-year period.
