Feedback: Residents' Reactions to Living in Operation BREAKTHROUGH Housing

The report is a review of consumer reaction to Operation Breakthrough, an experimental housing research program conducted during the period 1968-1974. Residents' were interviewed on eight Operation Breakthrough sites to determine consumer satisfaction with many aspects of the physical and social environment. Industrialized housing design and techniques, community planning, resident participation and awareness and management of the communities were evaluated for consumer opinion. Likes and dislikes of the housing units were evaluated by the residents. Questions were designed to help the housing industry as well as government agencies plan for consumer demand in mass-produced housing.
