Ten NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) Analytical Methods - Ammonium Sulfamate

The NIOSH validated method for the determination of ammonium-sulfamate (7773060) is described. Ninety liters of air (flow rate at 1.5 to 2.0 liters per minute) is drawn through a 37 millimeter diameter mixed cellulose ester membrane filter. The filter is transferred to a 2 ounce jar and the compound is extracted with 25 milliliters (ml) of distilled water. One hundred microliters of the extract is injected into an ion chromatograph equipped with an anion exchange resin and conductivity detector. The height of the sample peak is measured. The analyte concentration is determined by comparison with corresponding peak heights obtained by injecting standard solutions containing 675 to 2700 micrograms analyte per 25ml of distilled water.
