Modelling of Bubble Plumes From Subsea Blowouts

摘要

The present study considers the structure of buoyant bubble plumes above deepset subsea blowouts.nStarting from a general two-phase formulation a simplified but consistent theoretical model is established.nThe simplifications introduced are furthermore carefully examined prior to obtaining numerical solutions to the differential equations derived. Comparisons of the theory with experimental data show very good agreement in most cases.nThe present model of bubble plumes can be used to obtain time-averaged values of plume spread, vertical liquid velocity and void fraction (or density defect).
