Examination of Fiscal Year 1981 Overseas Private Investment Corporation Financial Statements and Related Issues

The overseas Private Investment Corporation's fiscal year 1981 financial statements present fairly the corporation's financial position at September 30, 1981, and its operating results for the year then ended. GAO found that the Corporation's insurance and guaranty reserves appear to be adequate to cover existing commitments, the Corporation did not fully disclose the effects of delinquent project financing in its statement, and tighter control and monitoring of the Corporation's administrative expenditures were needed. GAO's recommendations are aimed at improving the Corporation's financial disclosures and oversight of its activities.
