摘要

As a result of plans to reconstruct the Mainline Road in the Blue Mesa area of Petrified Forest National Park it was realized a significant prehistoric archeological site would be disturbed. To mitigate impact of disturbance, systematic data recovery at the site in August 1983 was conducted. The site had four loci of prehistoric human activity. Two of these dated to the Basketmaker III period (A.D. 700 - 775). The others to Pueblo II and Early Pueblo III periods (A.D. 950 - 1150). A large collection of chipped-stone artifacts dating to the earliest phase of prehistoric use of the site was analyzed.
